CACTUS QUEST
Cactus Quest
It is 1999. The desert is endless, the internet makes a terrible noise, and every person in town appears to be made entirely out of weed.
You play as Señor Prickles, a relentlessly friendly cactus with a tiny sombrero, a sturdy pair of cowboy boots, and absolutely no understanding of the danger surrounding him. When the sacred Golden Watering Can disappears from the town of Dusty Bud, Señor Prickles must follow a suspicious trail through smoke-filled saloons, moonlit cactus fields, abandoned roadside attractions, and several places that definitely were not there yesterday.
Talk to strange leafy locals. Collect objects of questionable usefulness. Type commands into a parser that occasionally seems to know more about you than it should. Solve desert mysteries, negotiate with tumbleweeds, and uncover the truth behind the enormous smiling face that appears in the sky every night at 3:17 AM.
Cactus Quest is a lost 1999 text adventure featuring:
- Hundreds of lovingly typed words
- Puzzles designed by people who may have been extremely tired
- A fully plant-based supporting cast
- Authentic late-90s menus, low-resolution artwork, and unnecessary CD-ROM technology
- Multiple endings, including several that insist you never played the game
- Señor Prickles, your new best friend
No reflexes. No finger cramps. Just your imagination.
Please enjoy responsibly. The cactus remembers everything.
