THE BACKROOMS RPG is a first-person, grid-based dungeon crawler about getting lost somewhere reality was never meant to contain. You have noclipped out of the normal world and fallen into an endless maze of yellow wallpaper, damp carpet, humming fluorescent lights, abandoned offices, flooded halls, impossible stairwells, and places that feel almost familiar until you look at them too closely.

There is no obvious way home. The only path is forward.

Explore a constantly shifting labyrinth filled with hostile entities, strange survivors, useless objects, suspicious vending machines, hidden passages, and rooms that should not exist. Every floor pushes you deeper into the Backrooms, where the rules become less reliable and the architecture begins to remember you. Search desks, lockers, closets, utility rooms, and abandoned workspaces for supplies. Find weapons. Break furniture apart. Use whatever you can carry. A rusty sword, a sledgehammer, a chair, a firearm, or a piece of junk may be the only thing standing between you and whatever is waiting around the next corner.

Combat is turn-based, deliberate, and dangerous. Every step matters. Every attack costs time. Enemies move when you move, so charging forward without thinking can quickly turn a quiet hallway into a trap. Learn the behavior of each anomaly, manage your health and resources, and decide when to fight, run, hide, or take a completely unreasonable gamble.

Along the way, you may encounter bizarre characters who offer help, warnings, questionable deals, or stories that make the situation even less clear. Some are trapped. Some belong here. Some may not be real. The Captain is somewhere in the maze. Ron may have advice if you get stuck. Other figures appear only when the Backrooms decide you are ready, or when they think it would be funny.

THE BACKROOMS RPG mixes survival horror, dungeon crawling, dark comedy, and low-budget 1990s computer game energy into one strange browser-based adventure. It is grimy, surreal, occasionally stupid, and fully committed to the idea that the Backrooms should feel like a place you can explore, fight through, and become increasingly concerned about.

Expect procedural environments, unsettling encounters, improvised weapons, secret areas, bad decisions, unexpected companions, and multiple layers of reality breaking down around you. There are no heroic prophecies here. You are not the chosen one. You are simply the person who fell through the floor and refused to die.

Fight your way deeper. Follow the buzzing lights. Open doors you absolutely should leave closed. Find out what is waiting at the bottom.

Maybe there is an exit.

Maybe the exit remembers your name.

Built as a self-contained browser game, it loads quickly and throws you straight into the maze without accounts, downloads, or a forty-minute tutorial explaining how doors work. The visuals, sounds, enemies, textures, and weapons are generated in code, giving the whole experience the unstable feeling of a forgotten shareware game discovered on a damaged office computer after everyone else disappeared years ago.
